"Stories, Music and Images inspired by ancient wisdom"
New Irish Arts is a Christian Arts organization with a network of several hundred volunteer musicians, working alongside a small group of actors and visual artists to produce a wide range of events throughout Ireland each year.
For Proverbia, a one off production, they wished to tell the stories of several individuals who had gone through serious social issues such as depression, addiction, homelessness, violence, crime and attempted suicide. These stories would be told alongside music, poetry and spoken words inspired by ancient biblical writings.
We were provided with six 3-4 minute interviews and had less than two weeks to plan, shoot, edit and produce six short films based on the interviews. It was not the easiest of tasks as the stories had to be treated sensitively and a balance had to be found for getting across the full weight of the stories without making them feel like entertainment.
The production was attended by 150-200 people and very positive feedback was received for the short films.
